Stop looking like small potatoes
Become a giant potato, who gets respect and trust

People decide within the first few seconds if they'll ever buy from
you. A positive, engaging, trustworthy first impression gives a 93%
chance of making a sale. But a negative one drops your chance to
less than 1%. And studies prove it's most unlikely you can change
that decision later. You shouldn't risk those odds. And now you
don't have to.

Trust and believability are established by submilinal influences
which are much faster and more accurate than logic. Unless you
seem believable right off the bat, people won't give you a chance.
They just won't care.

Court the limbic mind… or kill the sale

The limbic system is instinctive—older than language, more
reliable than thinking. Although it’s not logical, it controls trust.
It controls attention and desire. And logic must stand aside until
the limbic part of the brain decides something is trustworthy.

In primitive times it was constantly alert for danger. Detecting
threats spelled the difference between life and death. That function
is still important today (although the kinds of risks have changed).

A person’s limbic system decides almost instantly from numerous
sublte clues—clues that our rational mind overlooks. It doesn't
bother to explain why. That part of the brain constantly scans for
either of two things—what it likes (attraction) and, just as important,
what it dislikes or fears.

Anything else hardly rates a notice (indifference)—which includes
most written or spoken information. It has already decided from
the context before the words are even heard or read.

Since the limbic mind calls the shots you need to court it. Send
the messages it likes, while eliminating what it dislikes. Look for
ways to make your business limbic friendly. Here's
what the limbic mind likes.

Is your business sending small potatoes signals?

What makes one business succeed while others don't depends
on a lot of little things. But together they add up to whether or not
people trust it or like it. That's the limbic mind's department. And
it's only by getting the details right repeatedly that loyalty develops.

It's no coincidence that successful businesses avoid certain
kinds of problems that struggling owners get bogged down in.
They're struggling over steps that buyers care about—that
establish their credibility.

Small potatoes signs undermine the buyer's
confidence

The limbic mind mistrusts signals that aren't consistent or
professional. Even if glitches are minor, they turn it off. That
kills your chances with that person. And that makes them a
big deal indeed.

Watch out for small potatoes signals. Your business could
be sending them without your awareness. Here are a few
common examples. And get the Free Report,
Smash Small Potatoes.

Every business card and letter you send, every telephone
call, every ad, and contact with the public creates impressions
that reveal how well the business has its act together. They're the
“body language” of the business. Such hitch-hiking messages
are much more persuasive to customers than spoken or written
words. And they carry more weight than rational arguments.

Never doubt that everything your business does either builds or
damages the buyer's confidence in it. Whether you're a start-up
or have been around forever, you must sell yourself to the limbic
mind. That's Step 1. If you blow that, the rest doesn't matter.

Send irresistable mating calls to the buyer's
limbic mind

The single most essential ingredient that determines the
success of a business is the perception that it’s competent
and reliable. And that's in addition to actually being competent
and reliable. Fine tune the messages that pursuade the limbic
mind that you're exactly what they're looking for.

A business needn’t be large or well established to go head-
to-head with the big guys—as long as it looks like it's able to
deliver what’s expected. As long as it doesn't send red flags.
If you want to see your profits rise, eliminate signals that
undermine the buyer's confidence in you.
