Too Much Contact Information Confuses

Have you noticed all the different contact numbers people provide? How
many different ones do you use or give out? Is it any wonder that callers
get confused about the best way to reach you?

“Sure, you can reach me… anytime”

  • Business telephone number
  • Emergency or after hours contact number
  • Home telephone number
  • Fax machine number
  • Voice messaging number
  • E-mail address
  • Web site or web page address
  • Pager—digital or voice
  • Cellular telephone number (portable)
  • 800, 877 or 888 numbers (toll free, no charge to the caller)
  • 900 numbers (caller pays a fee by the minute for contact)
  • Extension number (within a large organization)

Each of us needs to be reachable, and technology has made that both easy
and inexpensive. Still, how you inform people about their various choices for
ways to connect with you deserves some thought. At the same time, realize
that you look mighty small, like a part-timer, if you only have a singe
telephone number any more.
